Look at what I got! (my car is really not that dirty)

Got it yesterday, installed it this afternoon about 30 – 40 minutes.
Everyone’s instructions made it very easy to install.
I may not have gotten the deal you all are waiting for, and I know some of you did get a good deal, but, whatever the case I have it! .. all for about $250.00.
Only went thru 46 stations still got over half more to check out---bye bye CD’s.
Oh yea you can see my way cool Whalen shift machine as well.

thanx again to everyone that helped

I wonder if there are any lawyers amongst the MINI community that can help us interpret the anti-trust laws, especially these sections:
§ 2 Sherman Act, 15 U.S.C. § 2
Monopolizing trade a felony; penalty

Every person who shall monopolize, or attempt to monopolize, or combine or conspire with any other person or persons, to monopolize any part of the trade or commerce among the several States, or with foreign nations, shall be deemed guilty of a felony, and, on conviction thereof, shall be punished by fine not exceeding $10,000,000 if a corporation, or, if any other person, $350,000, or by imprisonment not exceeding three years, or by both said punishments, in the discretion of the court.

§ 2 Clayton Act, 15 U.S.C. §§ 13(2)
Discrimination in price, services, or facilities
(a) Price; selection of customers
It shall be unlawful for any person engaged in commerce, in the course of such commerce, either directly or indirectly, to discriminate in price between different purchasers of commodities of like grade and quality, where either or any of the purchases involved in such discrimination are in commerce, where such commodities are sold for use, consumption, or resale within the United States or any Territory thereof or the District of Columbia or any insular possession or other place under the jurisdiction of the United States, and where the effect of such discrimination may be substantially to lessen competition or tend to create a monopoly in any line of commerce

I don't think they are dictating retail pricing, but rather they are supporting their retailers by not undercutting them (anymore).

§ 2 Sherman Act, 15 U.S.C. § 2 - they probably pass this test as they are not "monopolizing" the product. While they (Blitzsafe) may be the only ones currently manufacturing this particular item, they are not doing anything to prevent others from entering the market and (as far as we know) are not conspiring to prevent others from entering the market. Lack of competition does not make a monopoly.

§ 2 Clayton Act, 15 U.S.C. §§ 13(2) - again they pass the "sniff" test. Provided Blitzsafe is selling their adapters to all qualifying resellers at the same price they are O.K. What they cannot do is sell the product to one reseller at one price and to another at a different price, effectively handcuffing one reseller into less potential profit or (worst case) driving them out of the market on that product.

And while I'm not a lawyer, I can Google with the best of 'em:

From: Promoting Competition, Protecting Consumers: A Plain English Guide to Antitrust Laws
Resale price maintenance agreements. Vertical price-fixing -- an agreement between a supplier and a dealer that fixes the minimum resale price of a product -- is a clear-cut antitrust violation. It also is illegal for a manufacturer and retailer to agree on a minimum resale price.

The antitrust laws, however, give a manufacturer latitude to adopt a policy regarding a desired level of resale prices and to deal only with retailers who independently decide to follow that policy. A manufacturer also is permitted to stop dealing with a retailer who breaches the manufacturer’s resale price maintenance policy. That is, the manufacturer can adopt the policy on a "take it or leave it" basis.
It seems to me that Blitzsafe is basically saying "Here's the price we suggest you to sell it at, and if you choose not to we will no longer supply you with the product." Not only is this not price-fixing or illegal, it is very common practice, actually.

All this being said I too wish all parties involved (XM, Blitzsafe and their resellers) would get together on this and realize that just because they can sell this adapter at a premium, maybe it doesn't make the most business sense. They've made their decision and you can make yours. Vote with your wallet or bite the bullet.

Just installed my XM Radio

I love it. No problems to install. Exactly as this post explains. Took about 30 mins to run the antenna I took my time. I have the HK System and I was able to put the XM direct Box and the Blitzsafe adaptor behind the panel.

Sounds like sour grapes from those vendors.

Myradiostore.com is an offshoot of www.xm411.com, an XM radio fan/information site. Both xm411.com and myradiostore.com have been around a lot longer than the current Blitzsafe hoopla. I also doubt that Blitzsafe would go through all of the trouble to create these sites simply to sell a few adapters.

.

Sounds like you know quite alot about myradiostore.com. Can you explain the relationship they have with blitzsafe? Why are they the only ones that carry blitzsafe's Mini Adaptor. It must be that they are lucky

All things considered XM radio, or Satellite radio is a good deal, there are large selections of stations and the clarity is excellent, except in covered parking lots.
With the large selection of music to pick from on XM I no longer need to carry CD’s.

Personally I have no relationship with xm411.com, myradiostore.com, XM, BMW and/or MINI. What I know is freely available on their website (
About Us) and can be taken at face value.

I've had XM for the past couple of years and had frequented the xm411.com site a while back. I've also purchased XM products both for my company and myself personally from xmradiostore.com so I'm familiar with them as well.

The only relationship I can find between Blitzsafe and xmradiostore.com is a manufacturer/dealer relationship.

I have no idea why they are the only ones selling the adapter. Maybe they are the only ones who would hold the line on Blitzsafe's recommended pricing? Maybe they signed a deal to carry it only if they could get an exclusive? I work in distribution and there are many factors that could effect both pricing and availability on a specific item in addition to those I mentioned above. Nothing nefarious, just the way things work.

In the grand scheme of things this one adapter is probably such small potatoes to xmradiostore.com that I hardly think they would go out of their way to be in bed with Blitzsafe at the expense of their reputation and future sales.

I'm not sure why everyone is so upset about htis, but at any rate, anyone who says thet myradiostore.com is the only place that has the MINI adaptor is simply wrong. Here is a link ot the part at Radiosandmore. http://www.radiosandmore.com/prod_de...R-D-001-BMW101I have also read that Classic MINI, a well known MINI Dealer that is a current or past sponsor of this site also has them.

As far as Myradiostore.com, as the poster above mentioned, they are related to xm411.com, an XM fan forum. The person who runs xm411 used to be a partner with someone in another forum, called xmfan.com. They parted ways and now both sites continue and both have online stores.

I just can't understand all the hate and misinformation to save a few bucks when you could be enjoying perfectly integrated XM radio, right now instead of trying to squeeze the last dome out of people

Classic Mini has always been a great place to do business with from my past dealings with them . Has anyone contacted them for their price for the blitzsafe adaptor? If so please post it for all to see.. I was one of the lucky ones who got XM for $200.00 before all this started.. Well worth the price!!!

Competition dictates the price, and in this case there are other choices like the icelink and IPOD..which has much more functionality then the xm that would put into the car.

As far putting it into the car that was paid for full price, that's apples and oranges..unrelated..

http://www.audiooutfitter.com/store/BLZXMDBMW100.html

Here at AudioOutfitter they have the whole set-up for $241.16, plus about $8 for shipping. Click the link above.

I sent an email to Enfig.com to ask if I could buy just the BlitzSafe and they told me that Blitz wouldn't let them order any more of them. Could have gotten it for about $150. Oh well. Now I have an XM Direct unit to sell or return to Crutchfield. Anybody need one?
