Blitzsafe in Canada?

Hi guys;

First post here - long time reader.

Can anyone point to a source / reseller of the Blitzsafe products in Canada?
Or, a U.S. source with friendlier shippping rates to Canada?

Hi Tom, thanks for your quick reply.

Can you sell *just* the Blitzsafe part adapter? XM Canada will not authorize an XM Radio bought in the U.S., it must a Canadian product (so Im told). Since the XM-Direct product are readily available in Canada, I would like to reduce the shipping rates and alleviate the outrageous duties we must pay by lowering the overall cost if at all possible.

We've sold plenty of kits to Canadian customers, I've never heard of this restriction. The kit without the XM module only saves $25.

For Canadian orders, we ship via USPS which is a lot less expensive on duties. Everything is in stock.

Convertibles have it - or you can use our prewiring kit to make the connection at the head unit:

Pics...

This is what I have... the wire bundle looks fairly thin...

But there are 2 small plugs that are sort of spool behind the seatbelt tensionner but they are plugged in to a small black box? Could it be those? Plugged-in a "dummy box" of some sort?? See the white connector to the left?

It's there, we missed it the first time too. It directly in front of the rear strut tower on the passenger side.

Here's a direct link to a pic with the rear panel removed. I felt the whole wire bundle and I can't see or feel the connectors anywhere. I'm stumped. Whereabout would it be?

Tomm, I just had a look at the headunit adapter you linked to a few posts above... the product description says the following:

Item Description
US-bound MINIs were prewired from factory for a CD Changer and/or Sirius radio. If you purchased a MY06 MINI Convertible or MINI GP, these vehicles were excluded from CD Changer prewiring, eliminating the opportunity from having a CD Changer or Sirius installed.

That seems to contradict what you've just said... Im *really* confused now!!

This was an older post in which another member verified the connections were indeed there.

Dede,

Tom is right, the connectors are there. They may be wrapped in fabric tat makes it hard to see the connectors. There usually found behind the seat belt tensioner.

If it makes you feel better, I have an 06 Convertible and have used the CD harness in the boot. They all come that way.

Phil

Hi Phil (and thanks for your original how-to post and pics)

But...

Bad news is that no, I do not have connector for a CD in that wire bundle! I took off the panel again and took away all of the fabric wrapping - no plugs anywhere

I will post pictures tonight. Perhaps Canadian Minis don't get them?

You should have them, if not, we have a prewiring kit you can use:

MINI CD Changer Prewiring kit
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=622

This will connect directly at the head unit and provide the necessary connectors.

That's very strange as you're the first I've heard of who doesn't have the CD Changer pre-wiring. If your dealer is close by, you could leave the panel off and then take to the service department and have them look for you. If it was inadvertently left out at the factory, maybe you could convince them to install the harness under warranty.

Here are 2 pics - one showing the entire wire bundle stripped of its tape wrap and a close up of the wires propped-up on top of the seat-belt tensionner... No plugs to be found here guys...

Tom, how can I be certain that this kit will fit my radio? How can I tell what model of radio I have in my cabrio? Do I need to pull out the HU to find out?

We already know the radio in your MINI, even if the wiring was present, this kit would disable it. You will need to pull the radio in order to connect the prewiring kit and the XM can all be installed in the cabin area, making an easier project.

Dede,

It looks pretty hopeless from your photos. I wonder if this was a mistake on your vehicle or if the pre-wiring was left out of all canadian builds. Either way, I think Tom can hook you up.

Here are two additional photos that you may not have seen that show the two connectors a little more clearly. Just in case.

Phil
