fixing sound system. need help please

ok so i dont really know much on car stereo systems and what not. so please be understanding on my stupidity haha. but anyways right now i have a 2003 mini cooper s with the harmon kardon package. so my stereo stopped working and i believe that it was the factory amp that was broken. so i currently have a Kicker CX-Series CX300.4 600W amp and a sony mex-N5000BT stereo that im hoping that i can use. i know that the harmon kardon package runs on 4 ohms unlike most other systems. the kicker amp is able to change between 4 and 2 ohms and the headunit i have runs at 4 ohms. im just trying to figure out my best options. and what i can do with what i have. please help!!

Rewire it...and install new speakers....honest.
The factory HK system is so non-std, don't try to salvage anything. It's tempting, but not with the time and effort needed....with the HK amps, YPU are either "all in" or ripping it out....
Factory system used a line level rather than RCA to the amp, and the crossovers are gonna be all wrong, etc if you try to even salvage the wiring and speakers....

My suggestion is to take your Mini to a pro level car audio shop that has worked on Minis and get their opinion. Stereos can get pretty tricky.

If you install both of those it will work, but you'll have to replace the speakers as well. The HK speakers are nonstandard with no crossovers (digital crossovers built into the HK amp).

This won't help your speaker situation, but those looking for optional audio input might find this useful.
