Steering wheel controls [forward/reverse] issue

Pairing my Android to '09 Clubman via 3.5mm cable to aux input I'm able to adjust volume on the steering wheel but unable to forward/reverse tracks. If one function works shouldn't the other? TIA

If I understand correctly, you're using just the aux port? If so, yep the only thing you can do is change the volume..
