Hi all
I just purchased a 2006 that came with a separate manual that says iPod interface and has a cable in the glove box with the older style iPod connector. Do you know if the cable can be changed to the new lighting connector. Here are the specs from vin
736 Second Radio Remote Control Key
657 radio boost
645 radio control
650 CD player
674Hifi Loudspeaker System Harman Kardon
692 Cd Changer
I have to wonder what is on the back side of the head unit? Is it a USB port or direct wired in cable? I've not had the chance to pull the head unit out yet on my new to me 2003 MCS.
Yes, I guess I need to look at what is in the back. The cable looks and feels just like the cable that comes with an iPod, the white one that Apple has. Once the weather warms up here a bit, I'll have to look.
The cable is not a normal ipod USB cable. The far end of the cable is an unusual circular plug and pin arrangement that is connected to the ipod interface box.
The ipod interface itself is usually just loosely lodged behind radio, and is probably not easily accessible without removing either parts of the dash or the radio.
A number of people have mentioned that newer apple devices will work with your present cable with the addition of a standard 30 pin to lightning adapter - which would be the easiest solution.
