Upgrading the head unit..how to keep navigation working

I currently have the standard CD head unit with the factory DVD based navigation system and the NAV-TV unit with Kenwood DVD changer. It all works great. Now for the next phase.

I plan to replace the factory head unit with the Kenwood KDC-X979. For now it will continue to use the factory speakers...they will change later. I have the PAC SWI-X to continue using my steering wheel controls. My question is has anyone done such an upgrade and if so can you give me any information I need to be aware of so that the navigation system voice will continue to play through the stereo speakers and the NAV-TV sound will continue to play through as well.

I know I can get the NAV-TV sytem to bring the sound in through its audio out cable and into the audio in on the 979 but I really would prefer to have the audio out of the NAV-TV system be available for the rear monitor headphones.

Any help or insight anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated.

HK or not?

If you have the HK system, you may just have to run it through an additional speaker. If not, try mike the mini in the UK for a connector.

good luck.
