Could Replacing the HK amp lead to issues?

I have a 2004 Mini Cooper (75k miles) and my amp went out like I've seen so many others have so I went to an auto shop who told me they work on minis and they replaced the amp as well as installed an AUX adapter, but soon after the right door speaker produced no sound... Not only that, but I noticed the trunk/hood door light on the dashboard would not go off. Soon I realized it was more than just that - blinkers, headlights, high beams, and other interior lights would not go on, yet still functioned. Now it could all be a coincidence that it happened as the stereo was worked on, but I'm afraid they may have accidentally messed with a wire and caused it? Does anyone have any insight?? This is a huge bummer because I already paid them quite a bit, but not to create a new issue on my vehicle.

thanks!

I know what exactly happened here.
They replaced your MINI's HK amp with other model's one, where this "other model" means not MINI models but other BMW model one, for example BMW Z3.
I wrote an article how to replace MINI's broken HK amp with BMW Z3's one here.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...amp-works.html

If you read the link above carefully, the symptom you described is exactly the same as I wrote when I plugged in E46's HK amp in MINI. My article explains how to resolve all of your issues but if you paid money for the replacement more than a couple hundred, you're ripped off as you can do this by yourself very easily.

Oh my gosh, thank you so much! I looked through so many different articles to see if this had happened to anyone and was getting so stressed out because these sound people were so clueless and I felt so let down because I did pay quite a bit. It was $300 for the amp + installation and I just checked the amp and I read E46 on it so I think it's the same one in your article! I might have to show the guy your article which is a total let down considering how much stress I went through and trusted them to be familiar with minis. Thank you thank you thank you!! I was scared how they created more problems and would not claim responsibility.

If you read E46 on the amp, yes all of your symptoms are caused by it.
Mini's hk amp is expensive but e46 one is cheap. I got mine at $75 from eBay. They are greedy to charge it to you $300, just guessed that it would work as connector and shape are the same, blunt and sloopy enough not to test it after install thoroughly.
I would not let them touch Mini anymore and get full refund as they didn't fix your problem at all.
Don't mention my article. Just unplug the cable in front of them to confirm the problem is caused by it and ask refund.
Try to do it yourself if you want to do it. It's really simple fix at fraction of the cost. Removing finish to get to the amp is not daunting task if you're worried about it.

I'm afraid I have no experience with this kind of work and would not want to risk anything actually going wrong, but after reading the article it seems all that needs to be done is to open the amp and connect 4 different pins. I could probably tell him that and if I don't get at a least partial refund, they will get a very honest review since they tried to blame it on the mini.
