Hi, Im tried to change my front lower speaker on my 2013 r55, but I had few issues, and since this is my first timer to DIY, i need some info!!

I looked few threads that how to open the door panel and others,
and i took out the door panel and it was great before i took out the speakers.

First my issue was that i thought i only need to plug and play for the speaker, but it wasnt :(

i bought 5.25 speakers for the lower speaker, but it doesn't fit at all, new speakers are a bit smalller than the stock speakers.

I guess i need a bracket for the 5.25 speaker that bump up to 5.5.
Any recommendation for the bracket? i looked it up and found a bracket for BMW and i guess it would fit for my mini.

Second question is that, the female speaker harness was attached into the stock bracket. I guess i need an harness for the new speaker and I couldnt find one on the internet.

I really want to change the speakers because it doesnt sound well, but i dont want to buy amp and other system, just want to change the speakers.

just get some wire splices and tap into factory wires, no need for whole new harness.
And leaves stock plug there incase need for future use.

 

bottom speakers should be 6.5". most people just cut off the OEM speaker connector and splice in the wires that usually come with the speakers that have female quick connects on them. plenty of how-to's to be found around this board...
