PhatNoise® For $399

As an owner of an Audi (and soon a 2005 MCS) I recieved an email from Audi USA that said there was a huge sale on the PhatNoise® system. Price includes PhatNoise®, a 20 Gig DMS cartridge, the PhatNoise® Music Manager software for encoding CDs, a high-speed USB cradle and a CD changer jumper for installation.

I was wondering if anyone out there knows how/ if the system is interchangable with the MINI and if there are cables available to put it in the MINI. I did some quick looking on the website and they seem to be the same system so the only difference would be the cables, but are the cables even different? Any input would be a big help and maybe I could possibly work something out and buy some if people are interested, the MINI version is still $799 for the same 20 GIG system!!!

As far as I know, the actual phatbox is the same - just different programming. But I hear that it is difficult to persuade the company to sell you a cable for a different car. I guess you could try and persuade them that you changed cars.

The Kenwood Keg is even lower price at Crutchfield:

You might be able to adapt that to the MINI - see this thread on the Phatnoise forum:

You could do some searches on the phatnoise forum for more help ...

GBMINI,

Thanks for the info!! I like the idea of the Phat Noise b/c of the voice output option (not sure how well that works) but I like the idea of just saying I am changing vehicles and need a new cable/ mounting bracket as I have no interest in putting it in the Audi.

Wow!

$399 is a great price. I really like the idea of a PhatNoise, I just can't justify paying $799 for one.

If you find a way to make the Audi one work, please let us know.

Thanks,
