Android Phone + AUX: Terrible Sound Quality? Help!

Hi All,

After much searching and re-searching, I have still not found a remedy for the problem I am facing:

Ever since I got my mini ('12 MCS Hardtop), I have not been able to play music through my android phone via the AUX cable. iPhones—through the aux—seem to work just fine, delivering great sound quality. However, when I use my android phone, the audio quality goes to sh*t. (excuse my language, but this problem is driving me nuts).

I have tried changing AUX cables, I have switched through multiple music services, and I have adjusted and swiveled the cable endlessly in the 3.5mm jack, all to no avail. The sound is always bad: the tweeters constantly hiss, and there is a super weird inconsistent crackling that occurs. The sound never cuts out, it just persists in delivering really, really bad audio. I tried playing with the "aux-vol" setting, but it did nothing to help.

If any of you knowledgeable mini-gurus can provide any insight, I would really appreciate it. The Harmon Kardon speakers sound terrific on the radio setting, but I sure would like to listen to some of my own preferred music from time to time.

Thank you!

Try another audio cable, that crackling isn't right. iPhones will play right now ok? Or was that in the past?

Also, turn down the source volume on the Android just a notch, 5%,10% from full.

There was a similar thread recently. Turned out the member fixed the problem by simply turning down the volume on the phone..

Are both phones set to the same output level (same volume when listening with headphones)?

Yes. Turning down the phone helps a ton. I usually set it to the top and go down about 4-5 notches and turn the radio up. Works fine.

On my note 3. I'm running a rooted rom running Viper audio mod. My HK's sound amazing and can never go back.
