FWIW, there's MINI Connectivity update file on the streets

Hello all, while researching on how to fiddle with my MINI's electronic guts, I found that there's a new update file for MINI Connectivity. The MINI Connectivity website is completely hosed, but you can pull it off of the BMW ConnectedDrive website with no issues:

BMW ConnectedDrive

Just scroll down the page, enter the last 7 digits of your VIN, and it'll pop up with a compatible file.

I've noticed zero difference with anything with the new file though. The pdf that you can download along with it just references ancient (5+ year old) hardware so I don't know if there's any real benefit to updating, but there ya go anyhow!

The information about music that comes up while using Bluetooth for audio looks slightly different

i checked out the readme for the UPD01008 and it's def a wrong version or something since it references iOS5. The UPPD01006 seems like it's the most recent in reality since it mentions support for more newer phones/iOS6 vs the 1008 file.

The UPD01006 is what i'm running on my 2013 MINI Coupe with the full Mini Connected/Navi options. I just bought the 2015 map update too since i got a decent discount directly from MINI from a mishap w/my credit card.

I do wish we'd see either:
1) MINI continue development of the system from Gen2 of MINI Connected
or
2) Admit that like every other car company, you suck at keeping up to date w/the technological/computer/geek world and free the software to us geeks and open source it. Create a dev kit or hand of development to us enthusiasts.

My tech options in my MINI were not cheap and i could have opted for stock/base audio and then went aftermarket but didn't (wanted full use of all ports, ecu info, etc)

Did anybody figure out which one is better? 01006 or 01008?

01008 should be better. They mention new iOS software in the previous one, but that doesn't mean that they don't fix issues with previous iOS in a newer file.
