Mini After market Dealer Installed Nav

Bought my 2015 MCS a few weeks ago and it did not come with the infotainment system navigation system. This is the only thing it did not come with that I really wanted. I researched and found a mini branded (made by Garmin) navigation system that mounts on the steering stalk (colum) next to the speedo and tach. It includes mini engineered mounting hardware, and the unit is loaded with features (voice recognition, pre loaded mini dealer locations, lifetime maps, landmarks,etc.). It was a $575 proposition, fully installed. I went this way because I couldn't justify the $1,700 for the in dash unit. I like it Here is a pic for anyone who might be interested in getting one.

That looks great! Where did you buy it from? I wonder if they make one for the r56.

The OP got it from the dealer. The same device is also used for R56: http://www.shopminiusa.com/PRODUCT/1...TION-XL-SYSTEM

RKW is correct. It is a dealer item. You can get it or order it from any dealer. It works great and I just thought it looked and performed so much nicer than a smart phone with some clunky mount. It looks road rally ish to me in its locations. It is also adjustable (raises up and down). BTW, no creaks, rattles or any of that. The mounting hardware is really sturdy. They do have it for the r56. I had to pay an extra $10 for my cars specific bracket. As I mentioned above, I paid $575 installed. I was thinking of installing myself (found dealer install instructions online), but I was afraid of fooling around with a new car's electrical system. Good thing too... the dealer wiped out my contacts on my Bluetooth when they installed it. It took the dealer about 45 minutes to correct the problem. The contacts wouldn't install for me. They must have disconnected something. Also, if you have it installed, the nav gets the vehicle warranty instead of the 1 year Garmin warranty.
