Bluetooth Problem - Hoping for Help

I have a 2009 MINI with Factory Nav. Bluetooth worked fine for about 4 years. For over a year now, I have had the following problem. I can hear everyone but my voice is more or less garbled and sentences can't be understood as listeners tell me it cuts in and out so they here some words and can't hear others. This is only with Iphones. I paired another brand and all worked fine. I deleted and re-paired my iphone. I paired another Iphone and same problem. I did reset on iphones. I think the problem started after an iphone update sometime back. I see there is a software update for Bluetooth on the mini.com site. But I have a 2009 so I don't have connected so I don't think I can put the update on a USB and update my Bluetooth.
I could resolve the issue by getting a different smartphone but do not want to do that. Wife uses a iphone also.
Both our iphones work fine on our other vehicle. If anyone has any suggestion, I definitely appreciate it. Feel free to respond or send private message.
Thanks in advance,
Finner
