Help with Y cable options

So I have a 2011 mini and an Iphone 5. A quick google search brings up a lot of options, some cheap some pricey. What is the best iphone 5 option and is there a good ipod (standard) option that can be adapted to also fir the 5.

Through mini they are $100, ebay has some for $10, so who knows what to trust.

Any help in these areas would be great.

Avoid all aftermarket cables/adapters they will not work.

Get a apple 4 cable and a factory lightning adapter - this is your cheapest and best route.

The factory 5 cable is online for a few bucks less here -

We've sold several of these, but there isn't much consistency in how well they work and what features work in each car. We've seen differences based if you had a 5C or a 5S. Also differences based on year of the car. We are still trying to gather more info to know the consistency.

I have the 2011 hardtop. No blue tooth. I have the USB and aux connector and the option on the mini menu to use USB but I don't have the cable.

All features will work with the iphone 4, I think that the system was designed for use with that generation of iphone, iphone 5 won't support video out and I'm yet to find a person who has achieved this, all other functions should work though

I have a 2013 hardtop with connected, nav, armrest cradle capability and bluetooth. I purchased the mini lightning y cable.. Most functions work however I get no voice prompts through mini connected. When I use the mini 30 pin y connector with apple adapter, mini connected works fine

Returned cable yesterday due to mini connected not functioning properly with this cable.
