Need some tips on a new stereo system...any audio pros here?
Looking to put in a better sound system...not for my Mini, but for my boat.I figured it should be the same type of setup that you would have in a car (for the most part). I would like to add one amp to power the 8 6" speakers I will have in the boat, and a separate amp to run the 2 10" subs I'm going to add.
I no nothing about building a component type stereo system. What type/size/brand of speakers and amps should I look at? I don't need an award winning system, just something that sounds decent and won't break the bank. I would also like some efficient amps that won't build up a bunch of heat and drain the boat batteries fast.
Can some of you audio guys give me some advice? Thanks!

POLK MM Series speakers. They're marine rated. I had them in my old R53 and plan to re-install them in my 06 JCW R52. They're awesome! The components are 2.7 ohms so you'll get a little more power out of your amp (good to have in a boat with it being open to the elements and loud ambient noise).
