I'm in the first couple steps of creating a custom bluetooth install for myself. I don't like the MINI one, and I don't really like aftermarket options currently.

I'm creating (trying) a kit that would be as follows for myself:

A mic hidden in the MIc opening near the sunroof.
The sudio transmited to the radio via FM Modulation (my aux input is in use for sat. radio)

It would use the phone to dial, answer, hang up.

I'm wondering if it works, if anyone else is looking for a similar kit? I might be able to pump out a couple more.

I'd guess it'd cost me about $150 and be totally invisible in the car. I'm going to make it hardwired for power and all FM Modulation equipment would be about 1.5" by 1.5" and hidden.

Not sure if I can do it yet.. working on it last night.. and againt tonight.. but wanted to throw it out there for other persons in a similar dilemma

Yes, I'd like to get that - MINI bluetooth design sucks because it's green, not amber.
I was thinking about SonyEricsson HCB-30.

I also was wondering why not use some Y-connector on AUX in for both phone and external music (satellite or mp3).

The positive side of using MINI's is that it does integrate with HU. I was wondering if there's separate input there? maybe it is possible to reuse that?

Either way, I'm interested - $450 plus install sound too much for me.

Using the Aux Input over the FM modulator is totally possible if you are not currently using it.
MINI's does not really integrate with the HU that well, AFAIK.

My idea would be just as good in that regard.

I worked on it for an hour tonight, I hope to have the thing working by the end of the week.
