Coding 101

Hi guys, I am new to the forum, but I am also new to Mini's too.

I recently purchased a 2011 Countryman, and I love it, but as I am getting more familiar with the car, I notice things that could be different, better etc. For instance enabling auto unlock, or remote close doors and windows, or seatbelt chime, or enabling mini connected etc...

Here is the kicker... I'm in Australia.

From what I can tell the systems here are locked down like fort Knox. There is not connected because of legal safety reasons and there is no self software upgrade under settings. Its all a bit "protected" meaning that to do anything you need to fork out and go to a mini garage.

Well I would like to get the most of the hardware and the mini I have and I am sure that there are Australians that are in the same boat. I read that there is one guy from Sydney on this forum "Jimmyblunt" that has done exactly this. I have not been able to get hold of him unfortunately to find out what and how he did what he did.

I am hoping that I can collectively assemble the knowledge so that other locked out Aussies like I can open up their minis.

I am hoping to achieve this one post at a time.

Anyone willing to help?
