iTouch 2013 Mini How-to ?

Hi,

Car is on order and I was just wondering.......

2013 S Coupe
HK Sound
Nav
Mini Connected

I don't have an iPhone.

What is the best way to get the iTouch to play through the radio? Car will have the Nav system and Mini Connected.

I notice that in front of the shifter are the USB and 3mm Aux dock.

Should I purchase the cable from the dealer? What would happen if I connected the iTouch or any iPod using the USB and 3mm Aux with two cables? Same thing? Or is that cable magic?

The iPhone can be docked in the armrest. Older models I read could keep iPod in that secret compartment above the glove box. Is this still done on 2013 Mini's?

Has anyone run cables to keep iPod/iTouch in armrest? Can that even be done? Or other places? Not much space by the dock in from of the shifter.

The salesman at the dealership says he just uses a thumb drive for his music? I guess I could move music to thumb drive from iTunes, has anyone tried this? Sounds easy? Not much left to steal.

Can I assume that hooking up iTouch via Bluetooth will only get me poor sound quality? True?

I read posts, some say the cable from the dealer is junk. Lots on upgrades, or subs. Bluetooth is noisy on phone calls. Don't really care about that, excuse to hang up

Options and choices. You see why I am puzzled. What works best for you to integrate iPod/iTouch on the new Mini's?

Cable from dealer?
Where to keep iPod?
Thumb Drive?
Cables used?

Web links?
Pictures?

Thanks

You can get a minuscule 16GB USB disk for $10 these days. That's what I'd do. Yes BT audio is poor. Try plugging the iPod into the USB port via the standard cable. I suspect it'll be fine and the 3.5mm is not needed.

Flash Drive

Thank you. The flash drive idea sounds real appealing. And yes they are cheap now a days.

I doubt anyone would break in a car and steal a flash drive either and that is only if they could see it.

I'll figure out how to load one up via my iTunes to be ready. Amazing that it is that simple. Other cars don't have that.....well, Mini is not just another car either.

they come with a ipod/iphone compatible cable that you use to plug into the usb/aux port in the car. you just plug your ipod touch into the supplied cable, plug it into the car, and use it.

I saw an HP USB for $10 at Best Buy. Buy branded, it's worth the extra few %.
