Adding an amp?

Hey guys, I've spent a couple hours reading the sticky's about our stereo systems, but i still have a couple questions. Thanks for the awesome info to those who spent some serious time to provide it!

I have an 07 Cooper S, base stereo system.

My plan is to replace all 6 speakers, and add a single sub woofer behind the rear seats, along with an amp to power them all.

I can't seem to figure out how to connect (if possible) an amp to the factory head unit.

I have very little experience aside from installing a similar set-up in a Honda Civic some 10 years ago! I needed to add a head unit with 3 sets of RCA output's built in.

Most of this info is above my head, but I'm hoping for a fairly basic but worthwhile upgrade!

So my question is, how does an amp connect to the factory head unit?

Didn't want to bother making a new thread since this may apply here.

Are these harnesses the same, regardless of the audio package? I have a '10 R56 with HK sound, but I'm looking to add a subwoofer because I have some extra audio gear laying around. Just want to make sure this harness would work out all the same just because they're pretty expensive, I want to make sure it will work.

I'm 99% sure they are the same but send a message to Mike at newministuff and ask to be 100% sure.
