switching the mirror key receiver?

So, my auto dim mirror had the glass separate. I replaced it with a regular style/manual mirror, which apparently has a different frequency receiver in it. Is there any way to swap them out? As it is, I can see again, but can't unlock using my key. Help?!

Receiver frequency should be the same, if the mirror is for your model year. Try reprogramming: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post1462932

I think all of the 05+ mirrors are the same? I've tried those steps several times with no luck, might have to send the mirror back, sigh

Crap, well I checked the order again and it's for an '07, I know they made convertibles into '07 so I hoped that it would work/be the same, guess not.

Back it goes, and I continue shopping.

Did you mean it's for an '07 convertible or R56? I would have thought the convertible remote receiver would be compatible, but the R56 has different electronics.

Did you try to swap the remote receiver circuit board? It seems to be easily removable: http://www.mini2.com/forum/2378990-post37.html

Well, I don't know. The eBay ad just said '07, not what kind of car it came from. I'm already going to try to send it back (thank you seller for having a generous return policy) and keep searching for either the proper auto-dim model, or the right frequency manual dim.
