Navigation & Audio Music via bluetooth
without miniconnect, no. you have to use the aux port. someone was attempting a work around with a bluetooth adapter, but i haven't heard anything in a while.
it's kinda stupid really, i mean our golf and my old fiesta have this ability, i don't understand why mini doesn't have it. it's very disappointing, and to be honest if i knew that before i ordered, that might very well have been a cause to reconsider. it's something so basic that i (wrongfully) assumed that a car that costs what a mini does would have this.

MINI's official Bluetooth system without Connected can't do that. If you get Parrot system with Unika MFSW controller, you can stream music and play/pause, skip/rwd tracks with MFSW, but of course that's an involved mod. (not bad, but if you have BT already, it's rather sad you have to replace it)
My solution (no factory BT, had Parrot) was a hidden 12V power socket with TuneLink Bluetooth receiver tacked in the center console cover. Aux input is well hidden in -2012 cars (2011?) and audio cable can access there from behind console cover so you won't really see it at all.
This way, your phone will be automatically connected when you start the car (you can auto play as well), play music, change how bluetooth receiver works via app (iOS, Android) but you can't control music as MFSW isn't connected to the phone any way. You can still control volume with MFSW of course. I have cravenspeed flexpod so the phone is right there near my eye level, and also my Pebble watch can show me track name and controls if my phone is in my bag. Oh you can name the TuneLink so it can show up "MINI Audio" for example.
I don't have factory BT so I can't be sure, but because factory BT is for talk only and TuneLink is audio (A2DP) only, you should be able to receive calls with factory BT, and automatically switch back to TuneLink for audio after you hang up. That's how I use mine with dedicated headsets.
