Tablet inspiration

Anyone have a small tablet mounted in their MINI'S?

I'm thinking of putting a small tablet for music in mine, probably android based for cost reasons I would like an iPad mini but pretty pricey for just using in the car. Maybe even a kindle fire (can get them cheap now)

Any suggestions or anyone using something now that works for them?

Thanks....

Would a 3G iPad work with Connected? That would be cool.

Oh never thought of that. Only, AT&T already owns my wallet, don't need to give them even more.

Think I'm picking up a Nexus 7 and I'll try it. I already own an ipad want to try something else anyway.

iPod nano and a 3 channel FM interface works great (Gen 1, no USB). Have it stuck to the inside of the pillar with a velcro dot. ALMOST out of sight.

When you talk of using a tablet I have visions of you driving and googling at the same time so it would be necessary to know when you are out and about so I can stay off the road but if you are just using it for your music then don't forget to load it down with SRV.

Not for googling

Music/offline GPS/driving apps etc and just coolness.

I hate the small interface on the mini to display current song etc.

I would save the money (and real estate) and go with an iPod touch...

Besides being cheaper - an iPod touch is much easier to stash... You're going to have to remember to keep the iPad MINI hidden away when you're not in the car - otherwise you're just putting up a big sign that says "BREAK INTO MY CAR!!!!"

Any way to mount an iPod touch in an armrest snap-in? Guess it would need to be a pre-Lightning touch too.

So how does it stay in place when you turn? Doesn't look like there's anything to keep in in place when there's lateral motion.

That's a location that wouldn't work for me - not a fan of having the A/C controls blocked, plus with it mounted that low means taking my eyes off the road to look at or use the Nav or other functionality you get from the tablet...

Velcroed in place to hold the tablet, and little legs in the back to hold the mount (ill take pictures later)
Mount sticks into CD player, very very light weight and just pulls out easily if I need it out

Yes loosing the temp stinks, but not too many choices to place it in the mini's cabin.

It's really not as low as you would think and with nav being spoken and the larger screen I actually only have to glance as opposed to my much smaller gps.

As far as the climate goes, if I'm cold I press up, if I'm hot I press down lol!

I know where the buttons are without looking.
