I beleive the 3700 series is the same as the 2900 series with the addition of life time traffic updates, IIRC. Traffic updates are not good in all metro areas and of course do you no good if you are not in a major metro area. Some portion of that also relies upon the your wireless connection. If you have a limited plan for data usage, don't go there!
2595LMT purchased and i'm about to open it and play with it. it almost works itself. so much happier, but still grumbling about the $1750. and yes, i am going to write BMW even if you think i shouldn't
I hate to say it, but my Garmin (465T since I use it on trips with my camper) does many of the same things - my wife hates it. It's taken her into the woods (well, she does stop before driving into the underbrush) 3 times. Maybe it has a thing for my wife, now that I think about it...
Anyway, when you put in any location, you can only really guarantee that you will be within a stone's through of the real location. Sometimes an NFL throw. It also never takes the most direct route (whether you have it set to fastest time or shortest distance). I've tried putting in locations close to home and honestly, it never takes a very direct, smart or fast route. But you generally get there.
I've come to this conclusion - my nav, and others from their experiences with other brands and on boards, is a GENERAL GUIDE ONLY. It's fantastic on major highways on long trips, but once you get off the beaten path - be ALERT and be OK with re-routing.
