iphone 5 NOOB

Like the title says. I have never owned an Iphone. Finally picked up an Iphone 5 over the weekend. I have a 2010 MCS. No Nav or Connected.

I took the usb cable included with my phone and plugged it into my USB port under the radio. This is how I played music with my IPOD.

I don't get anything. It doesn't recognize that I have a device attached?

Any help? Sorry I am a nood when it comes to the Iphone 5

Hi J&C. You need a Y cable to attach an iPhone to the MINI. Also since you have an iPhone 5 you need an adaptor to make it work. Since the iPhone 5 is new I'm not sure what the compatibility is. Good Luck!

Thanks. Where can I get a Y cable. Is it a MINI product APPLE product or can I get a 3rd party cable?

You need the y-cable and it should have come with the car if you have a USB port. If not, it looks like this one here. http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...interface.html

Then because you got the newest phone with the 8 pin connector you will need the lightning to 30 pin adapter form apple. I bought the 0.2m one so it lengthens the cable just a bit to where I could hold it and keep it plugged in.
