Volume suddenly dips (USB)

I've been having an issue where the volume is suddenly dropping. Its happening with music from the USB. I havent had a chance to check it with the CD or off satellite radio. I have the songs at full volume because I have the stock radio and with the windows down and the sunroof open it is the only way to hear it. Once the volume drops I have to put the windows up. After a few minutes I'm able to put the volume back up.

I know the volume adjusts with speed but this is happening when I'm cruising along at 55 and it's too drastic to be the auto adjust.

(2011 with standard sound system)

Anyone else experience this?

i am assuming by "standard sound system" you mean you do not have the H/K sound system.

I have heard of this before and it is caused by the Head Unit in the dash getting to hot and going into a protection mode. It reduces the volume so as not to overheat the output transistors and then after it cools down enough it will allow for a volume increase again. If this is what is causing it then it should happen on all input selections.

Thanks for your response. It makes sense. I can't get through one Ministry song. I guess I just have to live with it for now or listen to the Beatles more.

Add an amp and new speakers then you should be able to listen to it at the volume you want.
