Navigation & Audio Aux in is jiggly and whiney.
Aux in is jiggly and whiney.
My aux input is a little... jiggly. Occaisionally i lose some of the signal and if I fiddle with it it'll come right back. it feels a little loose. Also, when nothing is playing or the iPod I'm using (6th gen Nano) is on pause it has this whiney static sort of noise in the background. I'm assuming my connection has been yanked on or something (bought the car used) and needs to be fixed/replaced.
It's hard to see under there but can I take that little pod the AUX in is on apart without disassembling the dash? If I can I think i'll wire up a splitter in there and build in a small ipod dock. if it's too much hassle i'll just take it to the dealer but I'd rather avoid that if possible.
Thanks in advance for any info/help!

I've had the same issue here. my new MC is 2 months old and the AUX port felt jiggly from the moment I got it. I took it in to see if they would repair it, but its been 2 days now and they are telling me that they've checked all the electrical stuff but it appears to be fine.. I'm thinking just plug the cable in and THEN tell me its fine. Anyone else having issues? I've heard theres been a few problems like mine with new 2012 MC.
My 2007 Aux in does the same thing. I switched to a better quality cable and the background hiss/noise improved, but not 100%. Still looking for a better solution. I tried taking it apart, but it appears the only way to get to it is by removing the whole center stack trim.
My 2012 has done the same from day one. When I jiggle it around it cuts left/right sound. I told them about it but have been too lazy to bring it in just for one thing. Plus if I don't touch it, it works fine. So until something bigger happens or I bring it in for the 1YR oil change I'll live with it.
same problem here - FIXED
I have a new MINI coupe, and when I picked it up last October, the AUX would cut out on one side if the cable moved at all, or didn't sit "just right".
My awesome service manager Gary removed the little box containing the USB and AUX jacks, and we popped it open to look inside to see if it was something loose etc.
There is a densely packed little circuit in there along with the connectors - so he ordered a new unit, it came a few days later and we swapped them out.
Voila! Fixed.
So drop by the dealer and have them order you a replacement part, which they can pop in with about 5 or 10 minutes of work.
Hope this helps!
