2004 MINI Cooper with no CD player. I need one. Suggestions?

I'm buying a 2004 MINI Cooper and the factory radio only has radio and cassette deck. No CD player. I find this odd for a 2004 BMW-made vehicle.

Anyhow, does anybody have suggestions on a deck with a CD player? How is the OEM MINI CD player that I'm sure was available on other 2004 MINI models? How much is it?

Thanks.

You probably want to post this in the first gen area.

I don't know about Europe, but in the US, OEM MINI CD Radios appear regularly on eBay at reasonable prices (often under $100).

OEM CD head unit is a perfectly good alternative. As RKW says, in the US they are $100 or less. The cassette was a rare option back then, but there are a few of them floating about. Swapping the head unit is a relatively easy 20 minute task.

I am in the process of buying an upgrade to the OEM CD Player. The JVC from Crutchfield was $129. This one plays AM/FM/HD/CD/USB/AUX. Will be able to change the display color to match the rest of the interior colors.

I am, also, buying the interface for the steering wheel controls as I have gotten so used to them I can't live without it. That is another $70, but is optional.

Why buy an old OEM when you can get a brand new one with extra bells and whistles?

I like the idea of a new head unit with USB and AUX inputs. Maybe even one that can play FLAC files placed on a USB thumb drive.

I looked @ Crutchfield but don't know which would be a good fit for my 2004 MINI. Obviously I'd like the colors to match, as well as the styling. Also sound quality is a must.
