I loved my 2004 MCS...but she got sold for a GMC sierra denali in October 2011 and now am in the process of purchasing a 2007 MCS R56...Well just a quick question....My 2004 had the H/K stereo and I LOVED IT.....The 2007 has the 6 speaker with the mini boost cd player....IS this the newer answer to the H/K?...or am I going to be stuck with a crappy system...Also I still have the 6-disk changer that came with my 2004 MCS....Will it fit in the 2007?...Thanks for everyones help.

The HiFi system is good, the normal 6 speaker one is crap. No your old radio will not fit the R56. The R56 radio sits behind the speedo unlike the R53.

A sure sign of an H/K system on 2007 and later MINIs is the H/K tweeters on the "A" pillars.

No. It is designed to be mounted in the "Secret Compartment" in the dash in front of the passanger seat. That is where all the wiring is for the CD changer.

But if your CD changer is not a MOST Bus device then it will not work in the Gen 2 MINI's

As for the HiFi system over the Base System. There is a difference but if you head over to the NAV and Audio Section where this thread should really be and do some reading you will find that many people do not like the HiFi system and would rather start with the Base system for upgrades. If you plan on doing up grades to the audio system and have the HiFi systme in the car you MUST leave the OEM amp even if not used as the car electronics have to see it there for any program updates that MINI does to the car.
