Navigation & Audio After Market Stereo for a Mini?
After Market Stereo for a Mini?
Hey everyone,
I have had my 08' S for about 3 months now and absolutely love it! The only part I am not thrilled with is the Ipod integration. In my old car, I had a pretty sweet set-up with an Alpine Head unit deisigned for the Ipod where I could navigate through my entire Ipod on the head unit. With my Mini, I have the AUX input but that just isn't cutting it. I didn't think putting in an after market head unit was possible, but I saw a picture of a mini tonight that had one. I was curious if anyone had any input about this in terms of if it is possible/how difficult it is/what would work??
Thanks

You can add an ipod adapter to the car, but it's not going to match your Alpine interface. I've played with the ipod adapter on the Mini and I found it's way easier to just control the ipod itself going through the Aux in. Not as clean, but the $$$$ Mini wants for the ipod adapter, it seems a lot more appealing.
There are many threads here about putting in an aftermarket head unit in the Second Gen MINI. Just look thru the threads and you will see it can be done and what limitations you have like the OEM head unit MUST stay in the car.
