My HK stereo stopped working. It turns on but no sound. Everything points to a failed amp. I know nothing about electronics and speakers. But I've heard the HK amp cannot be replaced with a aftermarket. I'd rather just redo the entire speaker system. What are some good replacement options that are the same if not better then the HK system? I don't think I need a subwoofer, maybe just a new amp and new speakers? Or do I have to replace the head unit as well? What's good at a budget of $500 and under $1000? I'm not worried about labor. My brother can take of that.
