2004 Mini Harman Kardon Gateway 100 Text Help
I purchased a Gateway 100 GW16BM4 for my Harman Kardon to connect to my iPhone.
The music plays and I can switch up and down in tracks but I can not get the text for the songs to display.
The instructions are pretty straight forward.
This chart says that the unit is Text compatible.

And this it the straight forward instructions.

I can switch between the 4 text selections but to no availe.
Has anyone else battled with this senario and been victorious?

I'm not familiar with that product - is the text supposed to show up on the radio's display? If that's the case, then that's your problem - the MINI radios didn't support text display until the 2005 model year. If you want to, you can replace your radio with one from a newer MINI and get the text display capability.
Thanks for the reply. Not to be argumentitive, but the compatibility chart does say, it should be. That you just have to go through the steps to enable it. Do you have a link to the text display for the HK head units?

The chart says that the GW16BM4 unit is text-capable, but my first clue was that it didn't break down the MINI radios by model year, even though there were three different radios available over the years in the first-gen MINIs, two of which were text-capable and one (the 2002-2004) that wasn't.
Search around here on NAM a little bit - it's well-established that the MINI "Boost" radio (which is the one all U.S.-spec MINIs have, whether they have the H/K option or not) was not text-capable until 2005. That was also the first year that the CD player could play MP3-encoded discs.
