Presets disappeared then re-appeared

Hi,
My 2011 MINI Clubman is about three weeks new. It's outfitted with MINI Connected + Nav.
I'm a runner and this morning I drove to Rancho Palos Verde to do some hill work. The area is poor for FM radio reception. I was listening to KPCC till it faded out; I parked, did my 12 miles and returned to the car. All my presets were gone! I was a little frustrated and as I drove home I started to re-store all my faves. All of a sudden I looked at the preset list and everything was restored.
Anyone else experience this?

Yes, this happens occasionally because for some reason the car forgets your FOB. Your radio presets, AC temperature, and the BC customizations (like the triple blinker, DRL, unlock settings, etc) are customizable for each FOB.

Usually the next time you start the car everything will be back to normal.

This happened to me in my '11 Countryman.

Disappeared, then came back the next time I started the car. The second FOB was not in or near the car at the time.

I call "no harm no foul" on this one!

Happened again today. The common activity is use of the key insert that slides into the fob. When I go running I just take the key insert and leave the rest in the car. So I end up locking and then unlocking with the mechanical key.
Then I start the car normally with the fob inserted in the dash. And this time only three presets were still there.
The remainder were not restored so I restored them.
A little annoying.

I had this happen to me twice on my 2011 Clubman. Please let me know if anyone figures it out or has a theory.

Thanks

This often happens when someone uses their "second" key and it does not have the same presets and settings as the normal key they use.

Thanks for the suggestion, I know about the second key issue and this is definitely not caused by my second key which was not in use.

The problem I see here from one of you is that you use the mechanical key to open the car thus the FOB is not seen and thus there are no presets. This should be able to be rectified by unlocking the car with the mechanical key then lock and unlock with the FOB. This should restore all presets that were set in the FOB

At least for me I didn't use the actual key, so that is not the problem.
