Dice MediaBrige - BMW & MINI units the same?

Does anyone know if the BMW Dice MediaBridge units and the MINI Dice MediaBridge are the same units?

Anyone from EAS know?

I know the MINI and BMW Dice Duo units are the same. I'm not sure about the Media Bridge ones, though a quick look at the product page at dice's website seems to indicate that they're the same as well.

I can confirm that the 1500 model is universal between the BMW and MINI (Just make sure you update the firmware)

And... its VERY cheap on Walmart.com

VERY.

(but you might want to get the headunit cables from EAS if you want to mount it up front rather than trunk)

What else is needed for hook up? What is meant by trunk or front mount?

DICE operates through the headunit's CD changer connection. You can connect the DICE to the back of the headunit (front mount), or to the end of the CD changer cable in the trunk (trunk mount). You also have to connect your iPod to the DICE unit, so for most people the front mount will be the better location. If you use the trunk mount, you can keep your iPod stored in the trunk or run an iPod cable back to the passenger compartment.

So why would anyone want the trunk mount?

I think the front mount is more flexible and appealing for most people, but the trunk mount is a trivial installation (easier than front mount) if you are going to have a dedicated iPod used only in the car and operated only through the DICE. I believe that when the original DICE unit was first introduced, only the trunk mount was offered. The only difference between the two is the cable connector.
