Multi Function Steering Wheel Issue

Hello, while writing this I feel like a complete idiot. Upon finishing up a 1500 mile road trip in my 02 Mini Cooper S, I screwed up big time. I spilled water all over my steering wheel (2 spoke multi function) and tried to wipe it up as best I could. Maybe a minute later my radio went crazy on me switching from CD to Tuner and volume automatically going to the max. I got home and shut the car down and figured I would let it dry out and see if that would help. Surprise surprise the volume/function button no longer works at all. Not only that my radio will randomly change from CD to Tuner. I was wondering if anyone on here would know of a website where I could purchase just that button? I believe I found it through MINI of South Atlanta but its $100 for the button alone. It may be a shot in the dark or maybe someone else has a quick fix to this problem. Any input is greatly appreciated and again I know I am an idiot.

Thank you.

Maybe try finding a wreck that had the same wheel, or take the button out and clean the contacts as that could also be the issue
