Navigation & Audio BlitzSafe Adapter Questions

Do I need the Blitzsafe adapter to install an amp? I was thinking the Blitzsafe adapter connected in the back of the car and I could just plug the amp up to that?? I'm buying a JL Audio 8" sub and Pioneer 6x9's.
