Model Year 2011 (and up) Navigation Map Updates

Hi all,

Just wondering where does one go to see if there are updates available to the data/maps that come with 2011 Nav/Connected systems?

I was a little bummed to see that a street that was created/paved about 5 years ago, that's been on google maps for quite some time, and was on the last two Nuvi's I've bought (one over a year ago), was *not* in my new MINI (delivered in Feb. 2011).

I guess it wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't the street I live on.

Thanks.

I actually find that the 2011 nav does a worse job at navigating than the 2010 DVD maps in my 2003 M3. Mini really does need to do an update.

Well that blows. Three steps forward, one step back I suppose.

So no one has found out how to check for the availability of Navigation data updates on 2011 models?

Okay just want to know if there is anyone else out there with this problem and to rant a little: I live in Germany and took delivery of my MCS vert w/ Navi/Connected in February. I went today to have the European maps installed only to find out that there is a software issue that BMW in Munchen is trying to figure out. (Here comes my soap box) Okay so we spend all this money on a car...you, BWM, switch how you operate your navigation systems... then you go oh we're sorry we have an issue with the software on American spec car navigation systems.
So how can you create maps for one and not for the other, and how can you leave out a decent sized market. I don't know how may US spec Mini's, or BMW's by the way, that BMW sells in Europe but I do know that the guy that sold me mine has sold over 40 2011 Coopers already this year. And BMW does not have European maps for the US Spec Navi? That is strait up BS!

My maps were way out of date when I got my Countryman at the end of March 2011.

No one at the ASK MINI or two dealerships have been able to help.

Obviously the system is used in some BMWs, and a new car should have up-to-date maps.

Is there any way of finding out more info?

B

Let us know what your dealership says about map updates. I live in Houston, TX. Several freeways were re-done by 2008. I do not have those updates in my 2011 Mini.

No one at Mini seems to be able to help and there have been no answers on this board either.

Very frustrating.
