Navigation DVD, User car dealer told me it would be $100

So, I just got my 2008 Mini Cooper S today, and I he gave me a pretty good discount because the cat was gutted ($700 to fix that at mini) and it didn't have the Nav DVD ($100 to buy the DVD at mini.) I find it hard to believe that you would even have to pay for the navigation DVD.

Kind of hard to search through forums, so I'm just looking for a straight answer. Do I really need to go to mini and pay that much for the DVD, or can I just download it from my computer and put it into my car?

When the car was new it came with one and it seems that someone lost it. Now would you really expect them to just give you one for free. NO that i NOT the way it works with any thing. If you loose it you are responsible for the replacement cost.

now in your case it is a little different and you did not buy the car new so anything that was not there from the original purchase would be your responsibility to replace at YOUR cost or the Used Car Dealers cost not a free give away by MINI.

And YES you do need to buy it from MINI as it is a special disk.

Before I sold my 2003 M3, I bought the most recent DVD set (2 disks). They cost $185. I don't know if it is the same system or not, but $100 sounds like a bargain. My advice: Buy the disk(s) and don't lose it (them). As your probably know, the virtually all manufacturers have moved away from disk-based systems to hard drive-based systems. Support for the legacy disk-based systems is expected to diminish over time and no one knows how long BMW/MINI will continue to provide replacement disks.
