I have the same time when I'm listening to the Web Radio. It will be really loud, then quiet, then becom loud again. Not sure what's causing it... maybe a poor 3G connection?

There is a setting for Speed Control Volume. The faster you go the louder it gets... supposed to negate road noise. Its on my '09 base system, so I assume its on all of em'

I experiencing a very similar problem but It has nothing to do with the speed control volume. Whenever I'm listening music (where it is trhough ipod, web radio, radio, or cd)the music dims and after a couple of second it goes back to regular. The problem is that this happen even when the car is in no motion. I have yet not taken the car to the dealer to see if it has something to do with a bad connection from manufacture. BTW, I drive a MCS 11 w/ mini connected w/o nav system.
In another subject I'm defenety trying to upgrade my speaker plus add an amp to boost the standard sound. Hve anyone look into this yet. I've seen a couple post regarding older model speaker upgrades but nothing on models with connected. Im worried it might be a little to complicated. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can adjust the amount of volume the speed sensing feature will will provide. it doesn't adjust the Bss though. In the setting for the audio system, there should be a S-Vol setting, this is the speed sensing control. At least that is what it is on an non MINI Connected audio setup, for connected it may be slightly different, but you shoudl be able to adjust how much it adjusts your volume

I have been driving 2011 MCS w/o MINI connected/Nav and with USB/BT option, and I am seeing some strange behavior from radio/audio...

When I drive MINI and listen to radio, the audio volume goes up and down sometimes even though I was driving at the same speed, and the sound from radio fluctuates, so it sounds like it's played from old LP. Let's say 'Maroon 5, This love' is on the radio, and the music plays like 'This...(short silence) This love has taken its toll on me'. And when radio host talks, it sounds like 'Toda....(short silence) Today is Friday!'

It does not happen when I play music from USB memory, and I have not tried CD player yet, so right now, I only see this problem when I listen to radio.
I had no problem with my previous cars in the same route, so I am wondering this is a problem in MINI... I also tried several radio stations, and it is same... weird.

I'm having the same issue with my 11 S w/connected+NAV. It's been happening since I've had it and is really frustrating me. It doesn't have anything to do with the speed volume, it just tends to drop randomly. It's playing loud which makes me wonder if it is maybe something of a safety to keep the speakers from busting?

I used to work for the automotive department at (a major audio equipment company) and our systems also had the speed-dependent volume feature. It wasn't just the volume that got adjusted according to the speed - we also adjusted the equalization in an attempt to compensate for the character of the road noise at that particular speed. It wasn't controllable by the driver though, and it was supposed to be a subtle effect - if it was consciously perceptible, that would mean whoever tuned the audio for that particular car model had gotten it wrong.

So how do i fix this problem? it's not the speed for the volume ****, but the sound it self, like it's not running at peak performance.

Update: Took it in for service, and all I got was "this is common for low standard radio, and is not a issue". I obviously didn't bought that, but they didn't look like they were going to do anything about it.

I know this is an older post but I see an resolution that was not mentioned. The HD radio might have been turned on. if you lose HD signal, it is digital and will cut in and out and not fade like traditional AM/FM.

If HD radio is turned off it might help.
