Mini Connected - Pandora - iPhone 4 problem

Hi I have a 2011 model Mini Cooper S (purchased Feb 19) with Mini Connected. I also have the latest Pandora app installed on my iPhone 4.

Supposedly, if you start Pandora app on your iPhone 4 hooked up to a Mini and go to Radio (on the Mini screen), Pandora should show up on the Radio list. Mine does not do this at all, nor does it show a syncing icon on the Pandora app. I can stream Pandora through Bluetooth, but I'd like to see/skip songs on the car screen rather than looking down on my iPhone each time. Another issue I am having is that when I start the Mini Connected app and try to go under "Check connection," it always fails. Does this have anything to do with the cable I'm using? I am currently just using the cable that they gave me with the car (which is that Y shaped one, one goes into USB and the other into the audio). This has been driving me crazy since I would love to see Pandora show up on the screen - can someone help me figure this out? Thanks!

It sounds as if you are having a cable problem.

Did the y-cable come in a bag and if so what part number is on the bag?

Also on the plug that goes into the AUX jack how many silver stripes are there?

I just tried hooking up my iPhone 4 with the white Apple USB cord and Pandora is working now I guess the Y cable was the issue.

Yep the y-cable is then the issue. But without the proper cable you will not be able to play videos on the screen in the speedometer.

"...play videos on the screen in the speedometer"

schatzy62, you can play videos on the screen of the speedometer? I had no idea. What videos are you referring to? And does that mean I need to get a proper Y cable? I am not with my car right now, so I can't check for the part # (is it only on the bag, or can I find it on the cable itself? I may have thrown the bag away), but once I find it, I will let you know.

With the proper cable you are supposed to be able to play videos from the phone that you recorded with the phone or put on the phone from iTunes.

Now of course that is only while the car is parked and in Park or neutral with the parking brake on.

How do you play the videos?
