ipod problem

Have 06 mini cooper having problems with static when i listen to my ipod through a fm transmitter. I have looked and i don't have aux hook up for my car. The thing i don't get is i have had fm transmitter set up for the same station 87.7 for years have no problems with my other cars just when i listen to music in the mini. Any suggestions on what it could be.

could be location of antanea in relation to the ipod/transmitter. This FM transmitters usually only have a short transmission range. In your other cars maybe the antanea was closer to the front of the car? Of course you would think the MINI was short enough that distance wouldn't be much of a factor, but who knows ...

Try moving the ipod and transmitter to different locations, like back seat along the window, in the boot. See if any help, that would help narrow down if it were a distance issue or not.

This is what I plan on doing...

I have an 02 without an aux input either. But I'm looking into this option... I haven't read many reviews on whether or not this is a legitimate fix but from the description of the product it seems like it may just solve the problem.

Should work with your year as well.
Good luck!

From what I understand, the CD changer connection cable comes standard on all minis. It's located in the panel on the right side of the boot. Looks like there is a piece of white tape around the connector to keep it from flailing about when it's not in use? I still am not 100% sure but that's what I've found in my mini and I'm hoping to purchase the ipod connector in a week or so... we'll find out if it works or not!

Hope that helps?

'06 S cabrio here, I finally got tired of depending on satisfactory FM to be where I was or carrying a wad of CD's and popped for an iPod nano and FM transmitter. They work great. The transmitter is a Gigaware universal I got at Radio Shack part number is 12-0494 for $49.95. IT found the best frequency and tuned itself then all I did was set the radio and add it to the preset.
