iPhone mount using a dock - Any Options?

What I want to do is somehow mount an iphone dock, so that I can just pop in my iphone so that I don't have to plug in a charger cable then plug in the 3.5mm cable to get going. I am using one of those nifty low profile usb sockets that fits into the cigarette lighter to power it. I have one of those cup holder mounts with the dock stuck on top. The setup works great, however the iphone is too low down and difficult to work the controls, I would like it higher up maybe on a flexible stalk.

The phone seems to have a good hold in the dock and it would take quite a bump for it to fall out so I'm not worried about that.

Has anyone thought about this option before and what did you come up with?

My Mini is a 2008 and doesn't have the usb socket, just an Aux.

I have a 2003 with a aux port and with the Verizon announcement yesterday I am looking at http://www.proclipusa.com/brodit-dev...164-18229.aspx...which I think will work nicely. I just want to be sure first if the passthrough also passes audio through the dock connector and not the headphone jack.

Something like this? This is my iPhone 4 in a TomTom GPS car kit mounted to a Craven Speed unit. I hardwired the power too.

I just bought a Soundgate G2 because it allows me to still use my case. But I was looking at the Dice G2 mount with pass thru so that I could just drop it in and it would be connected. But it would not allow me to use a case and it cost about $120.

BUT!!! What i think would help you is a Y-Cable (like we get when we buy a Mini with a USB port) At the very least this would allow you to only plug in 1 plug into the bottom of the phone. Since the aux and the cig lighter is so close this should work.

I've got one of these too. It's a great mount. I've got an iPod adapter that is connected to the back of my radio, so I just plug in the end into the ipod itself. The cable stays stored in my Euro parcel shelf when not in use and is always completely out of the way. It's really convenient.

Flexpod Scissor mount and what to do with 3.5mm cable!?

I got a scissor mount for christmas for my Iphone and I'm looking for a good way to hide the audio cable. I've seen folks with these mounts but it seems like everyone just lets the cable dangle.

For long trips I've got one of those usb cigarette charger things and I don't mind if the charging cord is visible since I don't use that often.

Is there a (fairly easy) way to run the audio cable through the dash and down to the aux plug?

I got the ProClip mount as well for my R56 - it is awesome.

Also recently bought the adjustable ProClip iPhone 4 holder with dock connector/passthrough.

Both are pricey but worth it.

Yes, I use a slim snap on case and it works great. The design looks to be able to accommodate a wide range of case. This is the version I use (note there is a different special holder if you use the Apple Bumper case):

"Apple iPhone 4 with Most Cases - Adjustable Holder with Tilt Swivel and Pass-Through Connector for Cable Attachment"
Item #: 516165
Price: USD $79.99
