usb/sd interface
Hello, I need some help pls with my 2006 mini cooper s.
A few weeks ago I purchased two connects2 usb interfaces one for the mini CTABMUSB009 and one for a Renault clio CTARNUSB003, they connect to the rear of the headunit in the cd changer port, so you loose the changer in the boot.
The Renault one was easy to fit & works fine, but the one for the mini is not so good its patchy at best, when I switch on the ignition sometimes the car will see the interface other times it wont.
The car was fitted with the factory 6 cd changer which I have removed.
I can get the interface working if once the ignition is switched on and it is not seen switch the ignition off again then back on then at times the car will see the interface but then somtimes when the car is started it will lose it again, when the car does see the interface, it will say on the radio display CHECK CD you cant change tracks when it displays this, so I have to scroll through with the mode button on the radio from CHECK CD (interface) to radio, cd (headunit) then back to interface then it will show the mp3 track numbers and its fine, but switch the car off and you are back to square one again pissin about with the ignition on and off before it will see it again.
I have also noticed if you switch the radio on without having the key in the ignition at all as you can with some vehicles where it will give you 30 or 60 mins before it auto powers down there is no way it will see the connects2 interface at all, its not until the key is in and turned to aux or ign that there is a chance the car may see the interface, but like I say thats hit & miss at best.
The tech guys at the place where I got the interface from said it could be the bluetooth or the nav that wont let the usb device work right
I have fitted two of these units in our Renaults, a clio & a laguna and they both work 100% fault free, and the laguna has the built in nav & bluetooth phone.
The car is a mini cooper s, build date jan 2006 (1st generation) with nav & bluetooth phone
