I just got my Garmin Nuvi 1390 with an Ecoroute HD and I have to say, theses are really cool. Having all the gauges with temp, voltage, boost pressure etc. feeds you a lot of information. After seeing the temp. though, I have to realized these cars do run hot. Mine is ususally running around 220F.

Got mine a few weeks ago too. So far so good with a few issues. It seems after a brief shutdown and restart of the car, the GPS goes into a charging state and doesn't come back on automatically like it used to. You have to hit the power button. I've also had some strange issues with the unit no longer speaking turn by turn, but messing with the volume seems to bring it back. I have the MINI branded Garmin Nuvi. Mine is also running around 220.

Is someone able to post a complete list of what parameters you can view on the gauges? Thanks!

parameters

Here you go...... INTAKE AIR TEMP, THROTTLE POSITION, INTAKE MANIFOLD PRESSURE, COOLANT TEMP, VOLTAGE, SPEED, RPM, TIMING ADVANCE, ENGINE LOAD. I love this for the cost installing oil pressure guage. It also clears codes...

Blinking green light after MINI updated?

Hey, all--hoping to revive an old thread here. I had been using my Ecoroute HD very happily for several months. After my MINI was in the shop having the radio replaced (bad display), they also upgraded the firmware. This removed the trip odometer from the display, and also appears to have disabled my garmin's ability to connect.

Anyone else have the new firmware update who can still use the HD? Or are these two events unrelated and perhaps my ecoroute just died?

Thanks in advance!

If you had the Ecoroute installed when the dealer upgraded the firmware, they would have had to unplug the Ecoroute. Did you check to see if it was plugged back in correctly? I don't see how a firmware upgrade would affect the Ecoroute's ability to connect.

Hi, Big Jim,

Yeah, if I had thought about it before taking the car in for service I would've completely unplugged it before dropping it off. I take it for granted and forget how the magic works!

But yeah, when I got the car back, it had been plugged back in. I've tried unplugging it, leaving it out for a few days, even holding down the reset button, but nothing. I might try it in my wife's car to see if it works there. According to the OBC, my first service is coming up soon, so I might ask the dealership, too.

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

I know it has to reconnect and I had issues with mine and selected disconnect and reconect from the Garmin menu. I know recently I did an online update to my Garmin 1490T and find that my HD drops out ever once and a while and I can't reconnect it. Might be an issue with the handsfree bluetooth connection with my iPhone interferring with the bluetooth HD, I do not know and it is frustating when I go to look at the guages only to find out they are not available.

Just get a Garmin GPS that's compatible with the ecoRoute. It will receive a signal from the OBD prompting you to set it up. I have the 1490 (5" screen) and I love it.

I understood that the ecoRoute also had the codex loaded into it so that when the car threw a code, it could read and interpret it. Is this true? Fortunately mine has not thrown a code yet so I don't know what the ecoRoute would do if it did and where I would find it.

I mounted the dongle with Velcro tape on the panel by the OBDII port. Easy to take off and switch to my F-250. Also very happy with the CravenSpeed mount for the GPS unit - attaches an arm to the back of the tach and allows concealing the power wires to the GPS. The power pickup is a spliced-in cigarette lighter socket that is within the center console - you use the Garmin supplied pwoer wire and can snake it up through the kick panel and out immediately beside the tach. With the Garmin power concealed in this manner you will need either to buy an additional one for another vehicle or just use a lighter socket USB to mini-USB from the aftermarket.

It definitely should. This model says it's compatible with ecoRoute.

I just wanted to follow-up on my earlier post where after my MINI's software was updated my GPS wasn't communicating with the HD unit. After trying lots of things, I did ultimately get it fixed by completely resetting the GPS to its factory settings. It's been a little buggy (my GPS has reset randomly, with decreasing frequency with each Garmin update, since day 1), but glad that it's all working again. I really like being able to see the boost, water temp, and timing advance.

I have a 3790LMT with the ecoRoute - love the setup, but does anyone know if it's possible to set what the default screen is? That is to say: if I power up the GPS, what screen it defaults to after a few minutes of inactivity? Currently, it goes over to the map - I'd rather it went over to the gauges...
Cheers,
E

don't think you'll find a way to reset it into that mode
