Harmon Kardon radio just stopped working
Driving along the other day in 2004 S Mini. I hit a pot hole and at the same time my radio speakers stopped working. The display is still there and yet no sound even trying a C.D. Is it possible the amp went out just at the same time. If so Mini wants in excess of a $1000 for a new amp. That is assuming that's the problem. Anyone else have this happen? Ideas on where to buy a amp and also do you need to take out right tail light fixture to remove amp.

I've recently experienced the same problem. We have a bad amp.
Search the posts and you will see that we are not alone. The amps on the HK go out often, especially on the 03 models (which is what I have).
One of the posts had a link to an Ebay auction where you could buy the amp for just over $400. I contacted the vendor on that auction and he said he was having trouble with his supplier and would get back to me later (that was over a week ago).
As far as location and access to the amp. There is a sticky on a complete radio install that will show you where the amp is and how to access it.
It is under the right (passenger) rear panel. You can see it if you remove the small door in the boot. You can remove it by first removing the rear seat and the rear panel completely.
I'm pricing a complete radio re-do but ifI could find an amp at a decent price I would rather go that route.
