Car mounted Smartphone - Ground Loop Isolator

Hi, just wanted to post up my finished car mount install for recently bought HTC Evo, mount is great and the phone has awesome navigation, streaming tv (ESPN includes live sports), plays movies, music, etc.

I tried using the speakerphone but it was far too weak to be used while driving, so I made the aux input from the thread here and found that when I was using the phone while charging it, I was another victim of the ground loop problem where the headunit stops recognizing the AUX input.

I looked at various ground loop isolator circuits for sale, and found some of them to look rather bulky and have mixed reviews about change of sound in some cases. In the end I found this cable on Amazon, and although it doesn't specifically say it's a ground loop isolator circuit, it works just great. I'm happy to report I can't notice any change in sound quality either. This cable is medium length at 4 feet, the box is at about two-thirds of the way on the cable, and you can run the cable in either direction just fine. The two ends are different, in that the one on the shorter side is a smaller, more discreet plug. It is a bit short for how I mounted my phone, and actually ended up attaching it to the back of my tach with velcro. There is a longer cable I saw on Amazon, made by Griffin, that is very similar, and 6 feet total in length, but seems to have larger plugs. I didn't like the larger plug enough to velcro the box behind my tach instead of tucking it under my steering wheel.

I'm very happy with everything, I got the mount for around ten bucks shipped, it's the Soundgate M2, you can find it here, just put in the code "WOOT" at checkout and the price drops to $5. I just bought a cheap plastic phone case for 3 bucks, sanded off a circle of paint, and glued the mounting disc on there. Very nice for what it does, the position where I mounted my phone I can take video of myself driving, make a video conference call if I really wanted to, or put the phone close enough for me to change tracks as easy as putting on the windshield wipers. The nicest thing is it's all integrated, I can put on nav and music at the same time, and the music will pause for turning instructions and phone calls (phone calls play over the stereo). Guess its the best option for my 06, I wish I had everything going over bluetooth, but I'm more than happy the way it is now.

Here's a pic of the final result.
