Navigation & Audio r53 HK amp same as r52 HK amp?
I thought the convertible H/K amp was different to the hardtop, but I can't be sure.
You could visit www.realoem.com and work through the pages for the part numbers, if your local dealership is not prepared to help you.

RealOEM lists different part numbers (65129146709 for an R52 vs 65129146708 for an R53). The only reasons I could think of are slightly different crossovers for the different rear woofer in the convertible, and HK spatial effects tailored for differences in the cabins. They might be similar enough that it won't make much of a difference. If I needed a replacement and the price was good, I'd be tempted to try. The wiring diagrams don't show any difference in connection for a convertible.

I am about to do the same thing. Did you come across any fitment issues? I'm putting an HK amp from a r52 (2008 MCSc) into my R53 (2003 MCS). My HK blew the yesterday.

How'd this work out? Are they directly interchangeable?
Although all the wiring is similar going in and out of the amps the R52 differs because the rear speakers are not 6X9 dual voice coil but rather they are the same size as the front door speakers, minus the mid/tweeter. The h/k amp also likely is programmed differently due to the different sound characteristics in the convertible compared to the hardtop.
Yes you could plug in the R52 amp to an R53 but likely the sound will be adversely affected due to the differences just mentioned.

Sorry, I didn't end up w/ an r52 amp. THe deal I was getting fell through so I end up going with an r53 amp I was lucky enough to locate.
I did get this info from the OP of this thread by PM a few months back.
"The only problem I came across is that the bass is much too high, so I always have to set it about 1/4 below the normal setting.
Other than that, I think it works great. but I have nothing to compare it to, as I bought the car with a broken amp."
