Anyone upgrade the HU in a 2002 MC for XM?

From my research I think this should work, but I haven't actually seen anyone say they've done this specifically. I was hoping to get some positive feedback before I buy.

I have a 2002 MC and want to buy a 2005-2006 head unit (probably off ebay) and get the blitzsafe xm skylink direct interface. Even though supposedly that blitzsafe adaptor works in 2003-2006 radios, I plan on getting a 2005+ since those are also supposed to play MP3's (I figure if I'm buying a new radio might as well get an even better one).

The only thing I can think of going wrong is some missing cables or connectors which might be in 2003+ cars but not in 2002. I'm hoping only the HU is different and the wiring is the same.

I'm planning on getting the blitzsafe adaptor here (hopefully it's in stock soon):

And most likely I'll get the XMD1000 off ebay since they seem to have cheaper new in box ones than the referbs that myradiostore is selling.

Has anyone done this? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

FYI this did work. I purchased a factory radio off ebay from a 2006 MC and installed it without issues. I also got a BlitzSafe BMW / XM SLD-03 (the SLD-00 and SLD-01 were not available the places I called) with a XMD 1000 and installed them in the rear compartment where the cd changer connectors are.

Unfortunately I didn't do my research to find out that satellite radio really doesn't have very good sound quality. Nearly everything sounds like low quality MP3s. Not quite as good as FM radio quality, and certainly no where near CD quality in any way.
