Taking Out The Stock Radio Deck

I'm a little strapped for money, have little experience/knowledge with working on cars, but am trying to learn.

I want to invest in putting in an AUX cable for my R53. I've read many previous posts on how to do this, and I think I have the general idea. I have tried to just reach up in the back, but my hands are far too big for that.

The problem I am currently running into is the initial taking things apart. I understand the screws in the cup holders need to come out, and then heres my question. Are there screws under the cap where the seat warmers are? If so, how do I get that off? Does the mirror adjusting **** need to come off (if so how)? I can get the seat warmer buttons off, and pop the sides off the large cap off, but it's stuck on the mirror ****.

Please help!

Thanks,
---Devan---

Hi Devan, and welcome!
If you are unsure how things come apart you can always visit:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.d...8021&hg=&fg=35
Just click on where you want to do and find the diagram for the center console area...the site basically will break down the whole car, list the parts, and prices.
Hope this helps!

If it's an 02-04, you don't even need to remove the console - the downtubes will just pivot forward and lift out. Otherwise, the whole seat heater/mirror panel pops up, and yes there is a screw under there.

Thank you Moodylewdd and Eric.

Next question I have, for my endeavors, is I need to get under the steering wheel. I do not have a EuroShelf(?) just a standard shield there. I can't seem to find how to open it up so I can run a wire behind it.

Just grab ahold of it and tug it down toward the floor. Its 'pinned' in place, and will swing down out of your way.
