Need help with Audio

First I am an audiotard. I know nothing about audio. I want better sounding speakers but not a sub cause I don't want to lose the boot space and I don't want to add the weight. I would like something with good audio quality and I am going to be adding tweeters because I have the base audio package in my MINI. Can you help me out with brands, expierence, and ideas?

If you are able to listen to speakers I recommend it. Find what YOU think is best sounding. I am an audio engineer and many people ask me what speakers to buy for all there various applications and even when I tell them what I think is best it never seems to be the right thing. Its all about what your ears tell you. But keep in mind price has a lot to do with the quality, you get what you pay for. And make sure to get a professional install, someone that knows minis (I trust very little people with mine)! It wont matter how much to spend on speakers if they are not installed correctly.

+1

As for the Focal speakers they are rather expensive but sound very good IMHO. But as stated above it is you ears and what sounds really good to you may sound like crap to me.

So if you can go listen to speakers with a number of different amps as that can also color the sound and you may like one amp better than another with the same speakers.

As for install definately find someone with MINI experience.

As for the JL equipment it is good but i like some other brands just as much.

I'm happy with the Image Dynamics amp and speakers I installed, but it was a big job. Focals seem to be for those who like bright sound. I went with Image Dynamics for a more mellow sound.

An amp will add a bit of weight and take up space, depending on where you put it.
