I have proven that what Robin said is true.

Thur testing on 2008 and 2009 cars I have found some very odd results. The odd thing here is that some MINI's are able to charge and others are not from the same year with the same cable and the same iPhone. Some cars need to have the door open and then the phone plugged in while another car needed the to be started first. This same phone would charge on my desktop computer but not on my laptop.

Now with your car being a 2010 (as I have stated I have not been able to do any testing on a 2010) there may have been a change in the ULF module. I have not been able to confirm the part number on the 2010 cars yet so I do not know if there has been a change to the module. But on average BMW/MINI changes the module every 18-30 months for updates.

The only true thing we know is it is very random as to if it works or not.
